Blues History and Context

(2 hours with Mike) What Is Blues? This class will be a discussion of the history, aesthetics, and current state of blues dancing, and what blues really is (and isn't). We will talk about what some of the blues idiom dances are, what some of the families are, what exactly *is* an aesthetic, and then a positive compare-contrast with qualities that separate blues dances from other swing-related genres.

(2 hours with Julie and Dan) If you want to embody all the nuance and expression that blues dance has to offer with a partner, there's nothing better you can do than to explore your own movement. Julie and Dan will help you develop the discipline to take control over your movement, and then use repertoire to sculpt that movement to give it meaning.
